“Pearl of the Orient”, the country where most backpackers swinging through the banana pancake trail don’t usually consider on visiting. Why? Maybe because it’s geographically out of the loop and not part of the established South East Asian trail. But, I certainly think future travelers should reconsider. And not just settle on a “maybe” kind of decision, because heck, this country deserves more attention than it’s currently getting!

As a local, I think it takes a different kind of traveler to get out of the usual loop and actually spend a considerable amount of time in a country like The Philippines. I mean, since it’s composed of 7649 islands, you’re expected to spend time on the road, roughing it like a trooper.

I can almost certainly say it’s going to be worth it and I can tell you a thousand reasons why, but for now let’s settle on these 12 images.  Maybe.. just maybe, these photos will entice you to spontaneously book a flight to the Philippines. Get ready:
